ELECTRICAL OUTAGES:

If your electricity goes out, residents should call ComEd
at 1-800-EDISON (or 1-800-334-7661) to report it. Please do
not call Village Hall or the Police Department, as this will
not help get the power restored.
ComEd’s automated PowerLine will give you several
options, the first of which prompts you to enter your telephone
number. If it accepts your number, your outage will be reported
and you do not need to speak to an operator.
If the system will not accept your number, then hang up
and dial again. This time wait to listen to all of the options,
the last of which is to dial "0" and speak to an
operator. After you report the outage, ask the operator to
check the telephone number on file for your account. That
way you'll be able to use the PowerLine in the future.

WEST NILE VIRUS - MOSQUITO:

With Mosquito season here, the Village believes that the
only sure protection against West Nile Virus (WNV) is one’s
own self protection. The following is a list of things you
can do to prevent mosquito bites:
· Prevent mosquito breeding by removing sources of
standing water. (Check your gutters after rain events to
ensure the water is not staganating in them)
· If possible, limit outdoor activity at dusk.
· Wear light-colored covered clothing that minimizes
exposed skin
· Use mosquito repellents (children should use repellents
containing 10% DEET; adults 50% DEET).
For more information regarding this topic, contact the Northwest
Mosquito Abatement District at 847-537-2306 or Lake County
Health Department and Community Health Center at 847-949-9925
or www.co.lake.il.us/health/ehs/westnile.asp, or call Cook County
