| RESIDENTIAL PARKING REGULATIONS |
| |
General residential parking
is available throughout the Village and is signed appropriately;
please pay careful attention to Village signs in the area
in which you are parking in order to avoid receiving a ticket.
|
Parking at Night: |
|
|
Do not
leave your vehicle on Village streets or alleys between
1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Parking regulations are strictly
enforced during those hours to provide security for
your neighborhood and to facilitate street cleaning.
Also, overnight parking is prohibited in any Village
parking lot. |
|
|
Parking When it
Snows: |
|
|
Parking
is not allowed on Village streets when snow accumulation
exceeds two inches. The Public Works Department asks
residents to help snow removal efforts by parking their
vehicles in the driveway once snowfall reaches two inches
or more. |
|
|
Parking in Yards: |
|
|
Any vehicle
that can be licensed to use on the street must either
be parked in the driveway or the garage, not in the
yard. If a vehicle is determined to be inoperable, it
must be stored in the garage, or removed from the property.
Fines for violating Handicap Parking regulations:
$250.00 |
|
|
| |
Shopper parking is available throughout
the downtown area in municipal parking lots and on the sides
of streets. Typically shopper parking is three hour parking.
Shopper parking is intended to encourage convenient shopping
for residents or visitors who are interested in purchasing
services or products from Village businesses. |
|
EMPLOYER/EMPLOYEE
PARKING |
| |
Four locations in the Village Center
have been designated Employer/Employee Permit Parking only.
These permits are available to anyone who owns or operates
a business and actually works out of that business in the
Village Center. Employer/Employee permits are issued on a
quarter basis and cost $45 per quarter. In one lot there is
an annual permit but the number of available spaces is limited,
the cost of the annual Employer/Employee permit is $60 per
year. |
|
| COMMUTER PARKING - NORTH LOT |
| |
The North Commuter Parking Lot provides
general parking on first come first parked basis. The charge
for the lot is $2.00 per day and commuters are encouraged
to purchase rechargeable smart cards which are accepted at
all payment stations. The rechargeable smart cards initial
cost is $20, with $5 for the cost of the card and an additional
$15 for parking. The cards can be recharged inside the
Train Station, please remember to keep your card for recharging
so you can avoid paying the $5 charge for the cost of the
card. A limited number of the pay stations also accept
cash payment. An alternative method of paying for parking
in the North Lot is to purchase a parking permit for the lot
for $120 per calendar quarter. The Permit is not pro-rated
and is non-refundable. Commuters please note, there
is no guarantee of a parking space, even when a permit is
purchased. Typically the lot is filled between 7:00 and 7:30
in the morning. To ensure you are able to get a parking space
you may want to arrive at the lot before 7:00 AM. |
|
| COMMUTER PARKING - SOUTH LOT |
| |
The South Commuter Parking Lot is for
BACOG area residents (BACOG residents are those individuals
who live within the incorporated limits of one the
BACOG member Communities, these include: Barrington,
Barrington Hills, Deer Park, Lake Barrington, North Barrington,
South Barrington, Tower Lakes). Residents of the Village of
Barrington take precedent over the BACOG Villages in the issuance
of a South Lot Permit, only BACOG area residents may get a
permit for the South Lot. There are no guaranteed parking
spaces for the South Lot; the Village limits the number of
permits sold for this lot to maximize the daily use of spaces
while minimizing the possibility that a space may not be available
to a permit holder. Spaces are available and utilized on
a first arrived priority basis. |
|
| FUTURE OF PARKING IN THE VILLAGE |
| |
The Village is currently undertaking
a study of parking alternatives for the downtown area. This
study includes looking at the possibility of building a deck
in the North Commuter Parking Lot that would provide additional
spaces for commuters, businesses, and shoppers. The parking
study also includes a comprehensive look at parking throughout
the Village.
If you have any suggestions please feel free to email
the Village at: VOBFS@barrington-il.gov.
