The Village conducts an annual flushing of the water distribution system to eliminate as much mineral content as possible from the domestic water supply. Fire hydrant flushing removes a considerable amount of loose mineral content and “settleable” solids that accumulate in the water supply system over a period of time. Flushing will occur from April 15 through May 2 (as listed above, weather permitting). You may experience discoloration, low water pressure, and rusty water during flushing operations. This may occur during the entire flushing period, even when flushing may not be in your immediate area. Although water may be discolored, it is safe to drink; however, until the water runs clear, you should avoid washing clothes, especially whites. Call Public Works at (847) 381-7903 for more info.
