Winter Parking & Sidewalk Snow Removal
November 1st through March 31st
To allow snow plows to safely maneuver and clean the streets for emergency response vehicles, parking is not permitted after 1:00 a.m. on streets within the Central Business District when snow accumulation is over two inches, until snow removal operations are complete. Parking is not permitted at any time on residential streets outside of the Central Business District when snow accumulation is two inches or more, until snow removal operations are complete. Just as a reminder, parking is always prohibited on all Village Streets between the hours of 1:00 A.M. until 6:00 A.M. Village snow removal crews typically complete post storm clean-up of Village streets during the hours of 1:00 A.M. and 6:00 A.M. after the storm has ended. Please refrain from parking on the street until after all snow and ice control efforts have been completed.
Sidewalk Snow Removal
During snow storms, watch Channel 4 and the Village’s website www.barrington-il.gov for detailed snow removal tips. Like most municipalities in northern Illinois, the Village requires residents and business owners to clear snow and ice from the sidewalks adjacent to your property. Keeping your sidewalk clear is important for preventing hazardous conditions for pedestrians. Please remember to do your part to help assure the safety of your neighborhoods and customers by making sure your sidewalk is promptly cleared.
Snow Piled at End of Driveways
Because there are more than 3,800 driveways in the Village, we do not have enough equipment and personnel to clear snow at the end of driveways. We recommend waiting until the street has been plowed from curb to curb before clearing your driveway.
