Barrington's White House
145 West Main Street
A Gathering Place for All Generations
"Barrington Realty was on the first floor and people would stop in and just want to walk around and see the architecture, fireplace, pocket door, windows, and woodwork. The house enhanced our professional stature as a real estate business."
Mary Williams, former owner
"This house has been a part of our collective memory for as long as anyone can remember. It's just that important."
Mary Smith, area resident since 1947
Barrington's White House connects our community's past and future. Everyone has a memory of it. Each story is as unique as the individual who shares it. Each conveys the relevance of this historic place in the center of Barrington.
Barrington's White House now has a future as rich as its past. With the engagement of area residents, the home built in 1898 will be restored to former grandeur and become a cultural and community center; a public endeavor for an historic gathering place for all generations.
Village President Karen Darch announced "Everyone can be a part of the renovation and revitalization. Barrington's White House will be owned by the community. We would love to have the renovation completed for the Village's Sesquicentennieal (150th Anniversary) in 2015."
