Three Levels of Functional Elegance
The vision of the Village and Barrington's White House volunteer committee is to renovate the property into an elegant ad highly functional cultural and community center on the first and third floors. The second floor would be primarily professional office spaces available for rental for non-profit organizations. There would also be a bride's room and coat check on this level.
The exterior of the house will be restored to its original grandeur and historically appropriate landscaping and gardens will wrap around the home. New walkways will link the various entrances, along which there will be lighting and benches.
The first floor will retain its original configuration, with an elegant front entryway, north parlor, east parlor, dining room, west parlor, and kitchen. The original woodwork and wood floors, including the main stairway, will be restored. The kitchen will be updated and expanded to support the catering needs of the center.
The second floor space will mainly be divided into professional offices for non-profit organizations to lease. It will also include a bridal room to support weddings that would be held in the center.
The third floor space will be completely remodeled. The remodel will expand the ballroom, originally occupying the front of the house on the third floor, to the entire length of the house. There will also be a staging area for caterers. The new ballroom will be able to accommodate seated parties of 150 people.
UPDATES AND ACCESSIBILITY
The renovation will also feature an addition off the rear of the historic structure. The addition will include an elevator, a second set of stairs and new bathroom facilities for all floors.
An infinite number of charming and elegant events can be hosted at this spectacular, grand house.
Barrington's White House will be the epicenter for entertaining all generations and creating new community and family traditions.
