The Village of Barrington is a vibrant and active community located 35 miles northwest of Chicago. The Village is unique in that it straddles the Cook County/Lake County border. While the Village prides itself on being a small town with rural roots, the Village is the commercial center of a cluster of affluent communities that stretches from the Northwest Tollway (1-90) north into central Lake County.
In 2010, the population for the Village of Barrington was 10,327 and the primary trade area population is 64,587, which encompasses the 60010 zip code. The Village offers a wide range of business opportunities in five shopping districts. These shopping districts include; Village Center, Lageschulte Business District, West Northwest Highway (Foundry Shopping Center); east Northwest Highway and South Barrington Road Corridor. The community has a median household income of $102,370 in the Village and $135,629 in the primary trade area.
Barrington is home to over 700 businesses that occupy more than 2.7 million square feet of commercial space, which includes more than a hundred retailers and 45 restaurants. Barrington is served by Metra’s Union Pacific Northwest Line. Approximately 1,800 area residents commute daily on the commuter train to Chicago. Barrington is home to Pepisco, Pepper Construction, GE Healthcare Financial Systems, The Garlands of Barrington, Hospice of Northeast Illinois, UBS Financial Services and Motorworks of Barrington.
