6th Annual Barrington Town-Warming

The Town-Warming is a re-creation of the robust discussions held in Barrington during the post-Depression era. The theme for the day is “Our Own Roaring ’20s: What’s Happening in the Present and What We See for the Future.”
Our keynote speaker is world-renowned economist Dr. Arthur Laffer, who is the founder of Laffer Associates, Former Economic Adviser to Presidents Reagan and Trump, and winner of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Dr. Laffer is widely known as the “Father of Supply Side Economics” and is the namesake for the “Laffer Curve,” an economic relationship between economic activity and the rate of taxation that suggests the existence of an optimum tax rate to maximize tax revenue. He will appear virtually at this year’s Town-Warming.
The day also includes in-person panel discussions on the future of energy and future of our foundations: work, family, religion, and education. Special appearances by WGN radio personality John Williams as well as Peter Alter, the chief historian at the Chicago History Museum, and poet John Maxwell.  Presented by the Barrington Cultural Commission with Presenting Sponsor Northern Trust and Audio Visual Sponsor Kim Duchossois.
