Current Construction Information – Updated October 27, 2022

Main Street Improvements (IDOT)

The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) currently has three separate resurfacing contracts underway on Main Street. Together, these contracts will result in the full repaving of Main Street between E. Hagers Bend Road in Barrington Hills and Quentin Road in Deer Park.

Work is being completed by two separate contractors, one started resurfacing at E. Hagers Bend Road and will move eastbound toward Hart Road and the other started work at Quentin Road and will continue to progress westbound into the Village. On Monday, October 10, the Contractor began laying the final layer of asphalt from Northwest Highway to Hart Road – All paving is expected to be completed by Friday, October 14, weather permitting. There will be delays associated with lane closures in this area during this work. Pavement striping and final restoration work will follow.

This IDOT work and the Lake County Department of Transportation (LCDOT) Hart Road closure are temporary, but do have significant impacts on traffic throughout the Village. While these are not Village projects, we will continue to share updates from IDOT and LCDOT and are looking forward to the completion of these significant improvements in our community!

Hart Road Bridge Replacement (LCDOT)

Due to the diligent work of the Contractor and Lake County Department of Transportation Staff, Hart Road reopened nearly two weeks ahead of schedule on the morning of Tuesday, October 25th. The roadway will still require the placement of the second layer of asphalt. Paving operations on Hart Road are planned to commence following school traffic in the mornings. Hart road will remain open during these paving operations, but there may be delays associated with this work.

The Village of Barrington would like to thank the Lake County Department of Transportation (LCDOT) for working to minimize the impacts of this important project. We would also like to thank the community for your understanding and patience as we all worked to navigate through town during two large projects managed by other agencies (LCDOT and IDOT) during this busy construction season!
