All Garage Sales held within the Village of Barrington must obtain a garage sale permit prior to the scheduled date of the sale.

Garage Sale General Regulations

• Garage Sale Permit Application
• Garage sales are permitted on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
• Garage sales are permitted between the hours of 9:00 am and sunset.
• No more than three (3) garage sales may be conducted on the same premises within any calendar year
• No more than one (1) garage sale may be conducted on the same premises within any thirty (30) day period.

Garage Sale Sign Regulations

• A garage sale sign is only permitted for garage sales that have obtained a valid garage sale permit.
• One (1) garage sale sign is permitted per garage sale, except that garage sales on corner lots may have two (2) signs (one per frontage).
• Garage sale signs may only be posted on private property or on the street right-of-way directly in front of the lot on which the garage sale is being held.
• Garage sale signs may only be posted on the day(s) of the garage sale and must be removed by 9:00 pm on the last day of the sale.
• Garage sale signs shall not exceed eight (8) square feet in surface area and five (5) feet in height.
• Garage sale signs advertising garage sales without a valid garage sale permit and/or signs located off the premises of the sale will be promptly removed and stored at the Public Works facility located at 300 Raymond Avenue.
