Meet Your Village Board

As your elected officials, the Village Board tries to make sure that the priorities, policies, and laws of the Village reflect the will of the residents.

The Village Board generally meets at 6:00 p.m. as a Committee of the Whole and as a full Board of Trustees at 7:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at the Village Hall. Please click on the corresponding agenda to confirm the date and time of the meeting(s). Public comments are welcome at every meeting.

For your convenience, if you cannot attend a meeting, all meetings are broadcast live on Channel 4, the Village’s Public Access Channel. Meetings will be replayed on Channel 4 and can be accessed directly on the Meeting Minutes & Agendas page. 

The Village Board consists of six Trustees and the Village President.

Village President

Karen Darch, first elected President in 2005¸ then re-elected in 2009, 2013, 2017, and 2021 is the Village President. Karen, an attorney, began her service as a Village Trustee in 1995. A mother of six, Karen and her husband, Doug, have lived in the Village for over 30 years.  Karen recently served as President of the Illinois Municipal League. She serves as a Board Member for the Barrington Area Council of Governments, and serves on the Executive Committee for the Northwest Municipal Conference after previously serving as President, Vice President, and Legislative Chair. She also serves on the Executive Committee for the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, previously serving as Chair. She was appointed to serve on the Governor’s Bicentennial Celebration Commission, his Consolidation and Unfunded Mandates Task Force, and as Co-Chair of his Local Government Transition Subcommittee.

Village Trustee

Trustee Jason Lohmeyer was first elected to the Village Board of Trustees in 2015, and then in 2019. He and his family moved to Jewel Park in 2008. 

Jason and his wife, Corryn, have been married since 1996. Their daughter, Kendall, attends Station Middle School in the Chinese Immersion program. Jason has volunteered at JourneyCare Hospice and was involved in other community organizations, prior to living in Barrington.  Activities surrounding Kendall have kept him busy through the years, including being Girl Scout Cookie Dad, and co-leader. Jason and his family enjoy traveling to new destinations and experiencing different cultures.

As trustee, he has immersed himself in the financial health of the village, and currently chairs the Finance Committee. Jason enjoys being involved in the various issues facing our village and helping develop viable solutions that shape our community.

Since 2018, Jason has worked for Lifeline Vascular Care, where he is the Chief Financial Officer. Previously he worked for CVS Caremark, where he held various roles including Director of Finance for a $10+ billion division. Jason earned his BS in Business (Accounting & Business Administration) from the University of Kansas, and his MBA from DePaul University with a concentration in Finance. He is a non-practicing CPA. Jason has served as a Member of the Barrington Firefighters’ Pension Board for six years, helping oversee the pension fund and evaluating disability applications.

Todd Sholeen

Todd Sholeen

Village Trustee

Trustee Todd Sholeen  and his family have lived in the Village of Barrington since 1992.  He and his wife Heather have two children, Philip and Bonnie, who are both graduates of Barrington CUSD 220.  Todd attended Principia College and received a bachelor’s degree in English and he also graduated from DePaul University after earning his Masters degree in Accounting. From 1986 to 1990, Todd served as Treasurer for the Village of Glenwood before moving to the Northwest Suburbs. Todd currently works for Fifth Third Bank as a treasury management officer. He is a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist in Barrington. Todd is also a member of the Barrington Breakfast Rotary. Todd also enjoys volunteering with Citizens for Conservation, Barrington Conservation Trust and other local non-profit organizations in the Barrington area. Todd was appointed as Trustee in August 2015, and was elected to a 4-year term in 2017 and 2021.

Jennifer Wondrasek

Jennifer Wondrasek

Village Trustee

Trustee Jennifer Wondrasek was elected as Trustee in 2017, and then again in 2021.  She is an engineer and community leader who has lived in the Barrington area for more than 30 years.  A graduate of Barrington High School, Jenn has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and currently works as a Technical Project Manager at Optimal Design in Arlington Heights.  For the last 15 years, Jenn has consistently served in leadership positions promoting education, youth and family mental health, cancer care and support, and other Barrington community service efforts. She is a past fundraising chair for Wellness Place, president of the Hough Street Elementary PTO, member of the Barrington PTO President’s Council, and board member of the St. Anne’s Women’s Club. She is a former Barrington High School Robotics Club mentor, and has taught religious education at St. Anne’s for more than 10 years. She also served for five years as a member of the successful Barrington Sesquicentennial Committee, and chair of the 1865 Street Festival, honoring the village’s vibrant 150-year history.

Jenn lives in the village with her husband, Gerry, and her two children, Tommy and Paige.

Mike Moran

Mike Moran

Village Trustee

Trustee Mike Moran and his family have lived in Fox Point since 2005.  He and his wife, Kathy, have two children, Grace and Jack, who have both attended Lines School, Station Middle School and Barrington High School.  Mike has a bachelor’s degree in Business from the University of Illinois, Champaign and owns and operates a local/regional LTL trucking company and warehouse/fulfillment business in Elk Grove Village. Mike has been involved in the Barrington Area Soccer Association and has served on the Fox Point Homeowners Association Board of Directors.  Mike was appointed Trustee in 2019, and elected for a 4-year term in 2021.

Kate Duncan

Village Trustee

Trustee Kate Duncan was elected as Trustee in 2019.  She is a partner at Akerman LLP in Chicago and a member of the firm’s land use and development practice. Kate received her Bachelor’s Degree from Butler University and J.D. from The John Marshall Law School. Kate has served on the Barrington Zoning Board of Appeals, Plan Commission, and on the Board of Directors at Atonement Lutheran Church in Barrington.  Kate lives in Barrington with her husband and two children.

Brian Prigge

Brian Prigge

Village Trustee

Trustee Brian Prigge was elected as Trustee in 2023. He, his wife and three children have resided in Barrington since 2019. After the privilege of having lived in Wisconsin, Massachusetts, and Texas, they decided to return to Illinois where Brian was born and raised. Brian is the President and CTO of Scriptly, a Carepoint Pharmacy company, and is propelling the pharmaceutical industry forward in technology. He volunteers his time and talents at Heritage Barrington Church and enjoys spending time creating projects in 3D printing, laser engraving, and CNC design.

Tony Ciganek

Tony Ciganek

Village Clerk

Village Clerk Tony Ciganek has lived in the Village of Barrington for 37 years. He was elected as Village Clerk in 2017, and then again in 2021.  He retired in 2016 from Baxter Healthcare after a 40-year career. He left Baxter as a Senior Director in the Manufacturing group. Tony’s job roles included manufacturing, process automation and engineering for IV solution products. Tony has one adult son, Adam, who lives in Wheeling.

Tony holds the following degrees: an M.S. in Physics from DePaul University, and an MBA from the Northwestern University Kellogg Graduate School of Management. His volunteer activities include the following: currently a lector at St. Anne’s Parish (for 25 years); a member of the Sharing Board at St. Anne’s; and a former assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 29 sponsored by St. Anne’s.
