Village's Electric Aggregation Program Update for Residents
You may keep your current electric provider or opt out of the Village programY
In 2012, Barrington residents approved a resolution to have the Village manage a Municipal Electric Aggregation program. The Village seeks competitive pricing for the residents’ home bills and has been very successful. The typical Barrington resident has saved $325 since the inception of the program. Village-wide, the program has achieved $1.1 million in savings to Barrington residents and small businesses.
The Village last bid out the Municipal Aggregation contract in June of 2018. Current Municipal Aggregation fixed pricing is 7.457¢ per kWh through October of next year.
However, ComEd issues residential pricing annually. Due to dropping power prices, the current ComEd residential rate through May 2020 is at 7.216¢/kWh. This new ComEd price would lower the average resident’s bill by $2.00 per month.
Residents who would like to opt out of the Village program and return to ComEd would need to call the current supplier, Dynegy Energy, at 844-351-7691. Please have your ComEd account number available when you call. There are no fees charged to return to ComEd.
