Everybody Counts! The 2020 Census is Here
This spring, the U.S. Census Bureau will ask you to stand up and be counted as a citizen of the United States, as it does once every 10 years. The Census is mandated by the U.S. Constitution.
Online, Phone, & Paper: The 2020 Census now incorporates online and phone response options in addition to the traditional paper option.
Important Dates: In mid-March, homes across the country will begin receiving invitations to complete the 2020 Census. Once the invitation arrives, you should respond for your home in one of three ways: online, by phone, or by mail. April 1 is National Census Day, and you should respond on or before this date.
Why Is It Important to Respond to the Census? Census data determines your representation in Congress and determines how funds are spent in your community on things like roads, schools, hospitals, and community services. Businesses use this information to decide whether to bring job-producing facilities to your community.
What If I Am a Snowbird? You should respond to the Census in the state where you spend the majority of the calendar year.
