Events in Barrington This Summer!
MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: Barrington Art Festival (May 29-30). At this year's festival, the Barrington Cultural Commission will be hosting a very special Community Art Project for everyone to participate in -- stop by the booth at Park Avenue and Cook Street near McGonigal's to put your handprint on a tile that will then be assembled into "Towers of Strength" to celebrate our wonderful Barrington community. On Memorial Day (May 31), there will be no parade this year, but our veterans will still host our traditional Memorial Day ceremony at Evergreen Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
SUMMER FUN THURSDAYS: Bob the DJ will be back downtown each Thursday evening at Cook & Station, with a special Bike Walk Barrington on June 3 and once-a-month Cruise Nights on June 17, July 15, and August 19. The Farmer's Market will be held each Thursday from June 17 to October 21.
FOURTH OF JULY: Most of our traditional Fourth of July activities will be back this summer, but they will be held on Saturday, July 3, since the Fourth is a Sunday. There will be no Fitness Run this year (it will be back in 2022), but we will hold the parade at its normal time of 10:00 a.m. (registration is now open at barrington-il.gov/parade), and the fireworks will be held that Saturday night at dusk. The Brat Tent has moved its festival to September this year, but I am excited to announce that on Friday night, July 2, the Village will host a great Drive-in Concert in the Metra Lot with the well-known Chicago band Sixteen Candles.
CONCERTS IN THE METRA LOT: The Drive-In Concerts in the Metra Lot have proven to be a very popular new event showcasing high-energy bands and the ability to have a drive-in picnic and safely enjoy being with friends and family in the commuter lot. We are grateful to our friends at Barrington Bank & Trust for sponsoring these fun concerts, which in addition to July 2 will also be held on June 11 (Pat McKillen and band) and August 7 (Run Forrest Run, a ‘90s cover band).
