Current Construction Information – Updated June 26, 2018
Sanitary Sewer Replacement Project
Over the last several years, the Village completed a comprehensive Sanitary Sewer Study which determined a major sanitary sewer line that conveys flow from the south side of town to the north side is in poor condition, and requires replacement. The project will replace approximately one mile of outdated and deficient sanitary sewer, much of which was installed prior to 1950.
The Village of Barrington is currently nearing completion of the construction phase of this project and more information can be found on our project specific update page located here: http://www.barrington-il.gov/ssrp.
2018 Road Patching Program and Crack Sealing
The 2018 Village Road Patching Program is currently scheduled to begin in July 2018 and be substantially complete by September 15, 2018. This work includes approximately 4,000 square yards of proposed patching at various locations throughout the Village. North Shore Court, Lake Shore Court, Castle Court, and Shady Lane between Forest Drive and Orchard Drive will be resurfaced under this contract. Residents with driveway access directly affected by this work will be notified prior to the work taking place.
A crack sealing contract has also been awarded and will be installed at various locations along roadways throughout the Village. Crack sealing helps prevent water infiltration into the base of the roadway in order to help slow pavement deterioration.
Reconstruction of Parking Lot 13
The Village allocated funding for Lot 13 design work and ADA improvements within the 2018 Village Budget. Lot 13 is located directly south of the intersection of Applebee Street and Main Street and reconstruction of this lot will require an IDOT permit due to work within the adjacent IDOT right-of-way along Main Street. In order to make best use of this IDOT permitting process, ADA improvements within this same IDOT right of way were included in this contract. Three heavily utilized pedestrian crossing locations along Main Street at Harrison Street, Applebee Street and Hough Street will be designed, permitted and installed along with this work. Though dependent on permit processing time with the state, construction of this work is tentatively scheduled for fall of 2019.
