The Poetry Hour, presented by the Cultural Commission of Barrington, returns! This free event will be at the outdoor Amphitheater at Citizens Park. Bring your chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets and enjoy a beautiful summer evening listening to original poems presented by some of the area’s finest poets.


A Call for Poets – Express Yourself Through Poetry!

Submit your original poem by May 31 for a chance to read the poem outdoors on the stage of the Amphitheater in Barrington’s Citizen’s Park.

The theme for inspiration is “Summer…musings, memories and marvels”

 

Particulars:

We expect a broad and creative interpretation of the theme: Summer…musings, memories and marvels. The selected poets will be divided into Juniors, (age 7 to 14) and Adults.

            1) The poem must be original and read by the author.

            2) You may submit up to three poems between April 15 and May 31.

            3) You must be available to read your poem at the event on June 23

            4) Indicate with your submission which division you are in, Junior (age 7-14) or Adult.

            5) PDF file or Word Document are the accepted formats to submit.

            6) Language must be appropriate for a general audience.

            7) Length of poem should be no more than 3 minutes.

            8) Selection of poems will be made by the Barrington Cultural Commission

            9) Selected poets will be notified by June 10
